Our creations of The Solar System using black card and oil pastels.
Back in Spring, we learnt all about the different parts of a flower in our science lessons. We dissected daffodils and used magnifying glasses to look closely at these different parts. We were able to identify the stem, petals, stamen, ovules, sepal, pollen and the bud. The girls then created beautiful daffodils in art using crepe paper, paint and an egg carton!
A few shots of the girls exploring our school yard searching for minibeasts!
A few shots of the girls in action at the blitz on Friday!
Last Friday, the girls got suited and booted with helmets and hurls for their first camogie session with Eamonn! We really enjoyed our first lesson, learning some of the basic skills of camogie; the correct way to hold a hurl, dribbling and catching. We are looking forward to continuing our camogie lessons with Eamonn for the next few weeks!
Over the last number of weeks, the girls have been learning about The Titanic and it’s famous history! We studied and researched facts, newspaper articles, videos and a timeline of events of that fateful night; April 14th 1912. The girls also produced some wonderful artwork depicting the great ‘unsinkable’ Titanic ship.
We were very lucky to have Declan and Brian from The Ashbourne Fire Service visit us in school last week. They took some time out of their very busy schedules to talk to the girls about the importance of Fire Safety. They spoke about fire hazards, how to prevent fires and what to do in case of an emergency. The girls received a booklet to take home, with lots of fire safety information and activities. It was a very enjoyable and educational morning!
Yesterday, we finished our ‘Seachtain Na Gaeilge’ celebrations with a wonderful ceolchoirm in the hall. Bhí an craic agus spraoi againn! We have such talented girls in Réalt Na Mára GNS and yesterday was a great opportunity to showcase that talent! Bhí dráma, ceol, amhráin, dánta agus damhsa go léir sa halla! Teacher was very proud of all the girls who took part. Take a look at our Irish dancers and their fabulous outfits. Well done girls!
In our SPHE lessons we have been discussing friendships and the importance of being a good friend. Good friends should be kind, loyal, fun, caring, respectful and trustworthy! Take a look at our beautiful acrostic poems we completed a few weeks ago in class.
We had a fun and exciting day last Wednesday when the girls wore their pyjamas to school to support the very worthy Laura Lynn Foundation. The Laura Lynn Foundation is a charity that helps very sick children and their families. Thank you to the girls for their donations and to the hard working Student Council for organising the day!
