What a lovely week we had celebrating Seachtain ne Gaeilge. There were lots of great activities happening in school during the week. We really enjoyed the céilí on Thursday, we listened to some traditional music and danced the ‘Ballaí Luimní’. On Friday we had a ceolchoirm in the halla, 1st class performed a poem called ‘An Teach Babóige’ for the rest of the school and did a fantastic job! The girls looked wonderful in their green for ‘Lá Glas’, brightening up our classroom and school for the day!
We had a very enjoyable day in school for World Book Day. The girls dressed up as characters from their favourite books and they all looked wonderful! Well done to Annabel and Ava-Rose who were on the winning quiz team! We learnt about animals in cold places such as the Arctic and the Antarctica and how these animals adapt to the freezing temperatures. Take a look at the polar bears we created! We used paint for the background and paper and markers to make the bears. Brrrrrr!
Earlier in the year, we learnt all about farming. We spoke about what happens on farms in each season and we looked closely at how dairy farms work. We learnt about the journey milk makes from a cow on the farm to our kitchen tables! We watched videos and looked at photos of cows being milked in the present day and also in the past. We decided to see what it would be like to make our own butter, just like people did in the olden days! We had lots of fun! We welcomed a very special guest into our classroom last week. Santa Claus came to say hello to all the good girls in Rèalt Na Mara, how exciting! |
